Chocolate Covered Cherries

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. butter, softened
  • 2 1/4 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1 T. milk
  • 1/8 t. almond extract
  • 1 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 T. shortening
  • 40 maraschino cherries

Directions

  1. Mix together butter, sugar, milk and almond extract.
  2. Use about 1 T. of mixture and flatten it on your hand.
  3. Wrap this around cherry to coat.
  4. Melt chips and shortening in double boiler.
  5. Hold cherries by stems and dip into chocolate.
  6. Place in candy paper wrappers.
  7. Chill for 1/2 hour.
